What We Help You Resolve

The Decisions That Shape Life After Divorce

Dividing Money, Assets and Debt

Well informed decisions about selling or refinancing marital homes and dividing your assets and debts are the foundation for a sustainable settlement that minimizes financial hardship, making it easier for both spouses to get back on their feet.

Children and Co-Parenting

Helping children adjust to a divorce and sharing time with each parent is critical to their emotional well-being and healthy development. Co-parenting after a divorce often presents challenges, but having a plan can make this adjustment easier for parents while, most importantly, providing the proper environment to make the transition less difficult for children.

Child and Marital Support

The issues of child & marital support can be contentious to discuss and can sometimes spark fear or resentment for both spouses which can be a barrier to communication, and in turn, a successful out of court settlement. With the right tools and information, however, couples can navigate these issues and reach realistic agreements they can both live with.

Mediation: A Better Option

A successful divorce is one that doesn't leave either spouse emotionally or financially broken or returning to court repeatedly. Many factors contribute to the outcome of a divorce and beginning with the end in mind should always be the starting point.

Client Testimonials

"I can't tell you what a relief it was to meet Lori. I was in a very difficult divorce, my spouse was angry, and we were very far apart in what we wanted. Lori was incredibly calm, impartial and ultimately made both of us feel so comfortable that we were able to come to an agreement on everything that was important. She is very skilled and I would recommend her to anyone."

Michelle P.

"Lori & Kevin Grover, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and care. The Mediation was a terrific gift and experience. Your teachings were thoughtful and profound. Life is such a prism and your angel to me and my family. Divorce is so difficult and so hard specially when there's 3 little girls involved that once had a loving home and a happy family, but thru your guidance and your coaching and teaching I was able to make my own decisions about my future and most important my 3 little girls because after all as a proud father that is the most important thing to me. Thank you Thank you Thank you! You are a masterful guide and teacher"

Jack D.

"Lori and Kevin were so easy to work with and extremely professional. They never took sides but rather guided my partner and I through the emotional process of splitting our lives, children, possessions, and all the things we hadn't even thought of. When we needed space and time, they always gave it to us and Lori even suggested we take a time out to think through some things that would help us be better co-parents. Her true agenda seemed to be to make sure we were both on the same page AND to make sure that we made choices for our children that not only we could live with but that were in the children and our best interest."

Ally D.

"To Whom It May Concern: The demise of a marriage is an extremely difficult reality to face. Divorce is an intricate time for all involved, especially considering our children. We were ready to divorce even though we still cared for each other. As we entered into the divorce process, our upmost concern was to protect our positive relationship and be able to co-parent our three wonderful children. It was crucial that we work together to handle the difficulties associated with a divorce, considering all involved. What we expected to be a very challenging drawn out process was relatively simplistic with Lori...."

Divorce Mediator Lori A. Grover named Chairperson of the RI chapter of the National Parents Organization

We are proud to announce that RI Divorce Mediation Center President Lori A. Grover has been named Chairperson of the Rhode Island chapter of the National Parents Organization, a charitable and educational 501(c)(3) organization, focused on promoting shared parenting, where both parents have equal standing raising children after a separation or divorce. The National Parents Organization recognizes that preserving a strong bond between children and their parents is critically important to children's emotional, mental, and physical health.

Gender equality and a strong presumption of shared parenting embraces every issue separating children from loving fathers and mothers, grandparents, and other relatives: alimony, child custody, child support, disabled parents, domestic violence, military child custody, move aways, parental alienation, and paternity fraud.

To learn more about the National Parents Organization and its activities, nationally and locally or to get involved, visit their website: nationalparentsorganization.org or contact Lori A. Grover, here at the RI Divorce Mediation Center.

Common Questions

Divorce Mediation in Rhode Island

How much does divorce mediation cost in Rhode Island?

Mediation is generally far less expensive than a litigated divorce because both spouses work with one neutral mediator instead of two opposing attorneys. Your first 30-minute consultation is free, and fees are discussed openly before you begin.

Is divorce mediation right for every couple?

Mediation works best when both spouses are willing to exchange information and discuss decisions. During your free consultation we review your situation together and talk honestly about whether mediation is a good fit.

Do I still need an attorney if we mediate?

Many clients choose to have a mediation-friendly attorney review their agreement. Our network includes legal, financial, housing, tax, and counseling professionals who can provide guidance when it is helpful.

What happens to our parenting plan after the divorce?

Parenting plans developed in mediation are designed to be practical and durable. As a Certified Co-Parenting Specialist, Lori also helps parents adjust and improve those arrangements as children grow.
